SHOPPING FUN!
(PASSING and crossdressing)
BY JODI LYNN
I got the chance to do some shopping at MillCreek Mall and I must
tell you girls that I found some TG- friendly stores. I was looking for
a top to go with a dressy navy skirt in The Limited. I told the girl
it was for me. She introduced herself as Donna, the store manager.
She was not only cool, but most helpful. She asked me my
name and introduced me to two other girls. They were also cool.
I did not find a top that fit. I then went to Lerners. I told the girl what I
wanted and that it was for me. She was cool and in the process, the store
manager also helped. I found a navy tank top with a mesh shirt to match. I got
it. They told me to come back to Lerners any time to shop and they would be
glad to help. I felt that the navy top with the skirt would be too much navy, so
it was back to the Limited to look for a contrasting color skirt to match. When
I went back, the girls were helpful and asked questions about crossdressing.
The store manager and I talked for about 30 minutes. I told her about
the Erie Sisters club. She said any club members were most welcome
to shop in her store anytime and that the girls just love to help people
mix and match outfits. I think that it's important to let people know anytime
we find a TG-friendly store. I told Donna I would pass the word along.
I also thought I'd tell you about my most recent shopping trip. I was again
in Erie doing some work at the cottage and went to MillCreek Mall on
Saturday afternoon. I did my normal rounds and stopped in at Lerners.
I had shopped successfully there before with a clerk named Amy. She
wasn't there, but I talked to another girl, Renee. I was browsing and
told her that I was looking for clothes for me as I am a CD. She informed me
that she was the store manager and that was fine. She also said that a
lot of guys come in to buy and she can usually tell which ones are buying
for themselves. That didn't surprise me. She said she wished all CD's
would be up front with her and staff, because that makes it easier for
her to help the person pick the right outfit. She spent 45 minutes with me.
I bought a brown dress, flowered skirt, red blouse and grey sweater.
All on sale. She set me up in a dressing room and I tried on clothes.
I told her about Lake Erie Gala and asked if we could list her
store
as T-friendly and a good place to shop. She said sure.
So please add Lerners to your list of T-friendly places to go.
