FAKE PIERCED EARS, NAILS, ETC.

Here are a few practical tips. We imagine there are even some real women
out there who could benefit from these. So be sure to tell all the girls where
you work about our site! Just tell them it comes recommended by your wife!

PIERCED EARS
You don't need pierced ears to get that pierced-ear look. Just take some
regular earrings and cut off the post. You will need to file the back to make the
surface smooth. Now take a tiny drop of super glue and attach them to your ear.
Just a little dab will do ya, girls. Later, when you're ready to take them off, rock them
back and forth a tad and pull them off gently. Take a tissue and wipe your ear lobe
clean with a little nail polish remover. Acetone is a good glue remover. If you're
reluctant to use super glue, you may want to try eyelash glue. I'm not sure it
will hold, but it might. And if you really want to go all the way for that pierced-ear
look, you could always try gluing the post holders to the back of your ears. Unlike
clip earrings (ouch!!), using glue does not squeeze your ear lobes in the least, girls.
Some of our members use superglue and have had no problems with it whatsoever.

MAGNETIC PERSONALITY
If you want to avoid glue altogether, there is an alternative: magnetic earrings.
You can buy them at
Claire's, a nationwide jewelry chain that caters to teens and young
women. The selection is somewhat limited, but we found some styles we like. And yes, they
do work. The little magnets are quite powerful enough to keep the earring from falling off.

BUYING CLOTHES
If you're not sure about sizing, here's a trick that works with pants and skirts:

Cut a length of string
equal to your waist size. When you look at clothes on the
rack, use the string and measure the garment. If the string is too short, the item won't fit.

BE BRAVE, GIRLS
We know there are crossdressers out there who are afraid to buy women's clothes
in a store. We can sympathize. A lot of us were there once, too. You know what? Get over
it. Lots of men buy clothes for their girlfriends and wives. Clerks assume men are clueless
when it comes to sizes, which is why they pounce on you when you walk into their department.
Just tell them you're shopping for a gift. Or shop during the Christmas holiday or before
Mother's Day or Valentine's Day, peak times when men are buying gifts for women.

GUILT FREE SHOPPING
Yes, yes, we know how guilt plays havoc with the crossdressing mind. What
if someone I know sees me? Well then, why not hop in the car and travel 30 minutes
to another town or state. No one knows you there. The clerk isn't going to remember
you after 10 minutes, trust us. The only guilt you should feel should stem from
how much money you spent on yourself, not the fact you purchased some panties.

VICTORIA’S SECRET

One of the great things about lingerie stores is that once you walk in, there's
no doubt about what you're there to buy, girls: lacy, frilly underthings.
So there's no playing the game of walking though the department store and
sort of wandering into lingerie while no one's looking. The ex-girlfriend of one
of our members accepted his crossdressing openly. While in college she worked
part-time for
Victoria's Secret and helped numerous male customers. She never
suspected for a moment some of these men were buying lingerie for themselves,
something she now concedes after learning how many men are into crossdressing.

MELINA'S HAIR STYLE TIP

All my crossdressing girlfriends know I prefer short hair. Why? Simple: I think it makes
me look more feminine. I've had wigs with longer hair and I know most crossdressers
go that route. May I suggest longer isn't necessarily better. Here's my reasoning:
Older women tend to opt for shorter hairstyles; so if you're a crossdressers in your late
30s or 40s, long hair isn't necessarily what women your age are wearing. Exceptions
abound. Some young women have short hair; some older women have long hair.
In my case, I think shorter hair is better for me, because it downplays the
I'm-trying-to-look-like-a-girl look, which is exactly my goal. I want people to think I am
a girl, not someone trying to look like one. So if you can afford to experiment,
try a shorter wig. You may look better. If not, go back to a longer style. I've worn short
wigs so long I'm thinking about trying a longer wig, just to see how I'd look now.
Long hair is feminine, but it's not always the right style for everyone. Just a thought. -- Melina

NAILS
When using press-on nails, put tabs on your own nails as well as the artificial ones.
They'll stay on a lot longer. The nails are reusable; but since drugstores in my area
don't sell tabs separately, you have to buy new nails every time you want to wear them
(unless you use glue). You can sometimes find tabs at some local beauty supply stores.

STOP STOCKING RUNS

We've all had them: runs in our stockings. Short of putting on a new pair
of pantyhose, there is one remedy that works well - at least in terms of stopping the run
before it gets really noticeable and out of control. When you see the run, take some
clear nail polish primer or base and place a small dab in front of the run. When it dries,
this will stop the run from getting longer. This really works. The source of the tip:

Brown University at the time (she was a very smart girl).

FINAL CHECK
Always carry what you'll need in your pocketbook for quick repairs and
touch-ups. Before heading out, check your make-up a final time in the mirror. Look
for tell-tale streaks. Also, you don’t need to wear red lipstick all the time, girls. It's almost
out of fashion. Experiment with other colors. You'll find out what works best with your skin.
